I used to spend way too many late nights reading fanfic and I've tried in recent years to not let myself do that, but last night I ended up staying up waaaay too late reading this fic:

It was recced on ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) crackenterprise and I was dubious at first about the DD mention, plus I'm a little hesitant to read AU fics these days since it's often stuff like "Kirk is a pirate and Spock is in the naval army wheeeeee!!" where the characters I love only superficially bear resemblance to the original. But this fic did such a great job of weaving in STXI canon and I enjoyed how dance was really about Spock learning how to interact with the world through touch and his struggle between his two natures. Sounds crazy, but it works I swear!
And now for something completely different...

My apartment has slowly become an insane mess of Christmas presents, wrapping stuff and other oddities related to the holidays. I need a day to just pack what needs packing, wrap what needs wrapping and clean my damn kitchen! LOL I have so much going on right now I need to make a list of things that still need doing. Sadly, I learned today that my application as a vendor to Hillside Inside (a local music festival in a concert hall) was rejected, I guess better artists than me applied!
For some reason I can't get my top image of my current LJ layout to load, does anyone else have an issue with it? The image link is active, it should work, I'm not sure what is going on other than browser cache fuckery.
Oh I said I'd post pictures of my wee holiday tree, I think I did a good job considering it's all recycled/thrift store stuff except for one set of teardrop bulbs:

I also ordered my hair dye for NYE, now to fret that it won't get here before I leave next week to go to my folks' place for Christmas! LOL

ALRIGHT! I managed to cobble together a decent enough illustration to make Winter Holiday cards with, so I can get to sending out cards this week!

I will be printing them tomorrow, I'd do it now except that it's 2am and I'm not sure if my downstairs neighbors can hear my printer, so better to err on the side of caution :)

Man, am I earning my Christmas holidays or what? This week has been so exhausting; not only did I work four days in a row at the cafe (as part of a deal to have Christmas to New Year's off, I do it next week too) but for some reason I ended up being the one to finish the new lady's training, which was only incomplete in that the cafe is the kind of place where lots of stuff you only learn by doing it. The new lady is very nice but kinda clueless. And the icing on my hard work cake was that the new lady flaked out on coming in yesterday (due to icy roads supposedly) so I had to come in early to open the cafe, get through the lunch rush by myself and then close the cafe too. People were incredibly patient about it, and some even left me a loonie tip out of pity LOL
I just did my dishes from the week since I've been too tired when I came home to do anything but reheat some food, thankfully my fridge currently has enough meals that I didn't have to cook after I got home from a day of making food LOL This is my day off, which I desperately need to do web projects and commissions and hopefully some Christmas presents. Also, I discovered yesterday that my work pants have completely worn out (in the crotch, of course) so I am off to Value Village later to get some new pants. It's freakin' COLD out, and windy, so I am not looking forward to it but it has to be done!
I pulled a muscle in my good arm so lifting things has become annoying and for some reason my ankle hurts, I can't tell if it's all the standing I've been doing or the cold. These four days it's been so busy I didn't get my half hour break, hell I didn't get a five minute break some days! And winter has finally decided to arrive, so it's been a real slog walking home, adding about fifteen extra minutes because I have to climb a hill both to and from work, so I slide back one step for every two I take.
Christmas cards are still not done, gotta decide whether I have the energy this weekend to do them or not!

I used to be better at this updating my LJ stuff, gotta stop trying to cram so much into every hour of the day! LOL
I had a lovely weekend visiting my folks and I ate a ridiculous amount for a non-holiday visiting. We had chinese takeout on Friday, leftover chinese Saturday and then I not only went with my dad to Mandarin (as his guest for a work-related lunch) but we then visited my Oma and took HER out to Boston Pizza! I think I ate more in those three days than I've eaten in two weeks LOL It was sorta relaxing, I helped put up Christmas decorations and saw my friend who I am going to London with for NYE to exchange ticket payment for plane ticket, which is officially all paid for woo hoo!
It occurs to me that pinkdormouse and trulyalcoholic need to be emailed to figure out meetup plans! I also need to figure out where in London I can get my hands on Direction hair dye since I remember getting it for cheap the last time I was there and I've decided to have green hair again for the holidays! It doesn't have to be Directions, I'd also welcome some Special FX or equivalent good quality green dye that isn't Manic Panic. I'm looking for a good blue-shade green, like Alpine Green or a Forest Green, that type of thing.
My NYE outfit is ~~*nearly complete*~~ with the recent find of a sparkly, shimmery green/gold scarf and all that's left I believe are to crochet myself some spats for my green runners. TRY TO FIGURE OUT MY OUTFIT FROM THAT, HA! :P
I have to do a shout out that my first Winter Holiday card actually came last week and it was from alletiders, go you early card sending! Thanks deary, it was an adorable card! I also got one today from (ETA: sorry, wrong Raven, it was from quoth_the) which I really like, thanks to you as well deary! :D *HUGS FOR BOTH*
I hope to do my cards either this week or next (I never promise my cards will arrive before Christmas LOL) so watch out for an entry about that later on...
